The programming software allows the operator to change each and every setting of the receiver, as well as to manage the memory channels. Also, using alphanumerics to give meaningful names to your memory channels becomes a lot easier. Another great feature is the ability to save all your settings into a file for safekeeping, or sharing with fellow IC-R10 owners.
The OPC-478 programming cable is necessary in order to connect the IC-R10 to your PC's serial port. The level converter is built right into the cable, so no other equipment is needed. All programming operations are performed on the PC. The only operation required on the transceiver's side is power on.
